Project: EN MASSE
Perforating Fabrics of Fiction
En Masse is a series of works that probe the runaway logic of hyper-modernity—where speed, displacement, and commercial growth tear through our social fabric. The project begins with a search for work, affordable space, and grounding, emerging from a personal inquiry into my material culture. It follows the age-old routes travelled by those seeking opportunity—paths once walked by merchants and migrants and now by economic exiles and the creatively displaced forced to migrate to commune and collate knowledge streams into a counter-narrative of community.
These works map the overlaps between personal necessity and historical repetition, tracing how our movements echo ancient patterns yet are driven by today’s escalating costs and systemic imbalance. Using nostalgia as a starting point, this work begins an ongoing expedition into historical fiction, stewardship, and institutional legacy that questions the dominant fiction of profit over people.
